Rams outlast Raiders 38-34

Dan Donovan (OAK) and Mop (STL) hooked up in this offensive classic. Leading 34-31 going into the 4th Oakland had the unenviable task of stopping the greatest show on turf, which they could not do. Lightning struck in the form of a 59 yard TD pass from Kurt Warner (25-29-337-3TD-1INT) to Ike Bruce on the first play of the quarter. After that this track meet turned surprisingly towards defense as neither team scored the rest of the way. With 5:35 left to go Oakland was driving deep into STL's territory when Rich Gannon's quick toss missed Jerry Rice's hands and wound up in the Hands of Dexter McCleon on the Ram 19.

After a nice 14 yard return the Rams set up shop on their own 32. Warner guided his team down to Oakland's 35 when the drive stalled. John Baker buried a punt OB on the Raider 8 to make it first and 92 with 2:27 to go. Gannon (34-52-399-2TD-4INT) was able to quickly rally his troops and with :56 seconds left he faced a critical 4th and 2 deep in STL territory (30 yd line). Oakland had to go and the call was an inside hand off to Charlie Garner who was only able to gain 1 yard. The Raiders turned the ball over on downs to the Rams who joyfully ran out the clock and moved to 5-1
