Favre and company headed west to face
Jeff Garcia and the '9ers. GB's two goals were to run the ball with Ahman Green and to stop the run. They failed miserably with both goals. The Packer defense keyed the heck out of Garrison Hearst and Kevan Barlow. At times it worked. Most times Jeff Garcia hit his talented group of wideouts with play action passes. Both teams played field position football for the first half. The '9ers took complete control of the game in the 4th after Favre hit Bubba Franks w/a 7 yd TD pass to cut the score to 17-13. Terrell Owens' 10 yard TD reception and Hearst 3 yard run late in the game put it away. Garcia out-dueled Favre. He was 21-29, for 332 yards and 3 TD's. T.O. was the recipient of Garcia's generosity as he had 7 grabs for 138 yards and 2 TD's. Hearst had an even 100 on the day. Ahman Green had to work hard to gain 70, but could not break the big one.
