Colts Corralled by Turnovers

Is anyone shocked that these two offensive juggernauts produced over 900 yards in total offense ? If you are, you are in the minority. The carpet at the Dome in Indy was worn out from this track meet, but when all was said and done the result hinged on a turnover. Down by 6 (37-21) the Colts were driving. Just after the 2 minute warning London Fletcher sacked Peyton Manning to bring up a big 3rd and 7 from STL's 20. Manning took the snap from Jeff Saturday and dropped back. His primary receiver was covered, so he looked off and hit a fatigued Marvin Harrison, who got the first down, but Aeneas Williams hit him from behind and the ball popped out. Tommy Polley picked it up and was tackled at the 23. The Rams ran out the clock and escaped with a 6 point win in this great shootout. Reggie Wayne (133) and Brandon Stokley (101) were Manning's favorite long gainers. Torry Holt led all receivers with 138 yards.
