Week 4 Raiders 27, Titans 20

Oakland’s Rich Gannon (37-49, 397, 3 TD, Int) and Tim Brown (6-109, TD) connected on 2 passes for 51 yards on the Raiders’ opening possession as Oakland went up 7-0, then extended their lead to 13-0 on a pair of FGs. The Titans failed to convert a first down on their first 5 possessions, but the Titans’ Samarie Rolle came up with an interception and Al Del Greco capitalized with a 48-yard FG to keep it close. The Raiders added to their lead- Gannon connected with Jerry Porter on a 9-yard TD pass late in the first half- but the Titans moved the ball inside Oakland territory and Del Greco connected from 40 yards to make it 20-6 Raiders at halftime.

Midway through the 3rd, the Titans D came up big again; Jevon Kearse knocked the ball from Gannon’s hands and ran it in from 3 yards to bring Tennessee within 6 at 20-13. The Titans then tied it up late in the 4th when Steve McNair (16-34, 135, TD) found Derrick Mason (5-58, TD) from 28 yards out. Oakland took over at their own 17-yard line with 1:33 remaining and moved the ball to midfield. With just 37 seconds left, Gannon hit Jerry Rice (5-94, TD) on a deep out pattern for the game-winning 49-yard TD pass. --submitted by Dan Donovan--
