This contest was nip and tuck until the Ravens broke away late. Baltimore scored :16 seconds into the game when Chris McAlister picked off an errant Tommy Maddox throw for a 44 yd pick 6. The bus, Jerome Bettis banged home a 1 yard dive 4 minutes later to tie it. Matt Stover added 4 unanswered FG's to make it 19-7. The Steelers had to play catch up and the Raven defense just pinned its ears back and harassed Maddox, who was eventually replaced by Big Ben late in the game.
Jamal Lewis was the story. He went 26-171 and basically walked all over the Steel Curtain D. Tony Banks was purely pedestrian at QB, but the Ravens didn't really need him to do much other than give JL the ball.
